Call for Application: Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship for the 2024/2025 Academic Year
The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.
Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 academic year. This call for applications includes bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, doctoral, postgraduate specialist training courses and other non-degree programmes.

The applicants can choose from almost 30 top-tier Hungarian higher education institutions and nearly 1500 programmes offered mainly in English and Hungarian, covering all study fields and levels. The scholarship covers tuition-free education at the available higher education institutions, medical insurance, and upon request a monthly stipend, accommodation contribution and travel allowance.
We are pleased to announce more flexible application requirements compared to previous calls, including:
- applicants need only five years of residence abroad before applying (previously ten years),
- completion of high school abroad is sufficient, replacing the former requirement of four years of study abroad, and
- applicants turning 18 after August 2025 are also eligible, in specific conditions.
Save the Date! The Tempus Public Foundation will host online informational events for applicants and their families, scheduled for 10th of December 2024, and 14th of January 2025.
