Embassy Theater Series: Hedda Gabler / Gabler Hedda

Leírás

Join us for the fifth play of our Embassy Theater Series!

On Thursday, October 17 from 7 p.m., we will be screening Henrik Ibsen's play from 1891, Hedda Gabler, in the direction of Sándor Zsótér. The professionally recorded show of the Katona József Theater of Kecskemét will be screened in Hungarian with English subtitles.

Hedda Gabler is the female Hamlet character in drama. Many have tried to translate the personality of this extraordinarily complex female figure created by Henrik Ibsen in 1890. The sharp-minded, exceptional woman who deliberately disregarded the Civil Code of Conduct had dreamed up a sparkling world, but she soon had to realize that being with the chosen man would not turn her hopes on. The consequences of this recognition not only affect the fate of Hedda, but also those around her. The story of the "new woman" armed against the world is being staged by Sándor Zsótér, a successful director of the theater in Kecskemét for many years.

The event is free of charge, but to secure your seat, please send us an email to RSVP.was@mfa.gov.hu with your name and number of guests. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the screening starts at 7 p.m. sharp.

Plenty of free street parking is available on Spring of Freedom Street and in the Rock Creek Park Grove #1's lot.

Upon arrival, please use the Embassy's reception entrance located at 2950 Spring of Freedom St. NW, Washington D.C.
