Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, in his recent talks with his United Arab Emirates counterpart, Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, congratulated the UAE on the conclusion of the historically significant agreement with Israel on the normalization of relations. “This agreement could instil hope in everybody that a time of peace could eventually truly come about in the Middle East”, he stated. Hungary regularly supports the efforts of both Israel and the United Arab Emirates on international forums. In this vein, Hungary has decided to support the election of the United Arab Emirates to the UN Security Council, and to the Human Rights Council.

The two countries have finalised their negotiations concerning an agreement on the mutual protection of investments, which represents a major step forward in the two countries’ economic cooperation.
