Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a letter of condolence to the Bush Family on the passing of Former President George Herbert Walker Bush (1924-2018), who died on Friday, November 30.
As Prime Minister Orbán wrote in his letter, he was saddened to hear of the passing of President George H. W. Bush, a great American patriot and a friend of Hungary. Hungarians will always remember and be grateful for the significant role he played in dismantling the Iron Curtain and liberating Hungary and Central Europe from Soviet oppression. The visit of President Bush to Hungary in 1989 gave the Hungarians hope and encouragement at a critical moment. The Hungarian people will never forget his honorable and firm resolve to bring historic changes to Central Eastern European region.
