A Hungarian delegation of Consul General of Chicago Dr. Zita Bencsik; the Rector of Semmelweis University of Budapest, Professor Béla Merkely, MD; and noted Research Professor József Sándor, MD commemorated the 201st anniversary of the birth of Hungarian Physician and Obstetrician Ignác Semmelweis (1818-1865), the ‘Savior of Mothers’ at the Hall of Fame of the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago on Sunday, July 7.

The wreath-laying ceremony was followed by keynote speeches by Max Downham, Executive Director of the International College of Surgeons, Consul General Zita Bencsik, Rector Béla Merkely and Professor József Sándor.
